Hai 
   in serial port what is 1:1 connection.
 TO my knowledge it is dte dce connection, now the problem starts i 
have an instrument that can be connected in the 1:1 mode and the 
instrument is connnected to the pc throught the serial port. 
So can i read the data just like i read it in the normal null modem cabling.
What about the bit pattern, the manufacturer has not given any bit 
pattern, so what do i do now?

Hello,

Normally a 1:1 connection means that you could (electically) plug the device
right into te PC. This is normally not done, however, so you would use a
cable consisting of a male-connector on 1 end and a female-connector on the
other hand.
The pins are connected straightforward,i.e. : pin1 connected to pin1 , etc.
