Exact. Now, Sound Blaster module accept module parameter (IRQ, DMA etc).
This is a old muLinux problem: SB irq conflict with NE2000 irq on
my system and other.
Furthermore: new kernel has an enhanced /proc filesystem (the interface
with the kernel internals), suitable for better scripting.
Some examples:
/proc/swaps
contains swap partition active; 2.0.36 lack of similar stuff.
My impression is: this kernel is more fast, more modularized, but
big, big, terribly big :(

Dicevo che i nuovi kernel sono molto buoni e risolvono certi problemi
per i sistemi che usano intensivamente i moduli. Mi sembra che i progettisti
si siano sforzati di isolare il codice direttamente collegato all'archittettura
tradizionale dei PC, e questo e' buono. Pero' ora, se non compili bene
il kernel, non ti vede ne' i dischi IDE ne' le porte seriali e parallele.
Questo kernel e' veramente ingrossato: pensare di metterlo su muLinux
equivale a ristrutturare muLinux, affiche' possa cercarsi i moduli
su piu' floppy, invece che solo sul primo.
