Creating System Boundaries

On a use case diagram you can create a system boundary to separate a system from external actors. To create a system boundary, choose one of the following methods:

Using the diagram toolbar button:

1. Click the System Boundary button on the diagram toolbar.




2. Click on the diagram to create the element.




3. Resize the system boundary by dragging the corner of the element to the desired size. The element expands or contracts in the direction of the cursor.

Using the diagram context menu:

1. In Diagram view, right click on the background.




2. From the context menu, select New > System Boundary.

Using the element context menu:

1. In the UML Navigator view, right click on the use case diagram.




2. From the context menu, select New > System Boundary.
