This section explains how to create hyperlinks. Hyperlinks exist within the context of projects, so open a project to create or browse them. Hyperlinks are essentially properties and thus appear in the Properties view. You can create hyperlinked diagrams using one of the following possible methods:
Create a hyperlink from an existing diagram or one of its elements to any other diagram or diagram element in the project.
To create a hyperlink to an existing diagram or element using the context menu:
Open an existing diagram from which to create the hyperlink (or create a new diagram).
Select the element that you want to link to another diagram or element. To link to the diagram as a whole, click on the diagram background to deselect all elements.
NB: Do not select the actual package in the UML Navigator or UML Explorer to create a hyperlink. Rather, expand the package node, and select the UML package diagram.
From the context menu, choose Hyperlinks > Edit
The Hyperlinks dialog opens. To link to a diagram or a diagram element, select the Model Elements tab.
NB: Notice the other tabs for which you can also create hyperlinks: Workspace, Java Elements, and External Documents.
The left hand list contains the UML tree view of all opened
projects. Select the desired diagram or element from the list, and then
click Add. For element selection, expand diagram nodes in the tree view
of the dialog. To remove an element from the Selected list, select the element,
and click Remove.
Click "OK" to close the dialog and create the link.
NB: The Model Elements tab uses the UML Navigator view; therefore, if you have set any filters in the UML Navigator view, these elements will also be filtered in the Model Elements view of the Hyperlinks dialog. Remove the filter to view the desired elements in the Hyperlinks dialog.
Using the Workspace tab of the Hyperlinks dialog, you can attach workspace documents and files to a diagram or diagram element. Hyperlinks created to workspace documents are created with a URL relative to the workspace.
In the Hyperlinks dialog, to add a relative link to a diagram or a diagram element, select the Workspace tab.
The left hand list contains the UML tree view of all opened
projects. Select the desired diagram or element from the list, and then
click Add. For element selection, expand diagram nodes in the tree view
of the dialog. To remove an element from the Selected list, select the element,
and click Remove.
Click "OK" to close the dialog and create the relative link.
Using the External Documents tab of the Hyperlinks dialog, you can attach external documents and files to a diagram or diagram element. Hyperlinks created to external documents are created with an absolute path.
Use the Browse button to select a local document. Documents you select will be displayed in the Recently used Documents list.
Use the URL button to select a local document. The selected URLs display in the Recently used Documents list.
Use the Add and Remove buttons to add or remove items to and from the Selected list.
To create a hyperlink to an existing diagram or element using the Properties view:
