When you create a new diagram, the Diagram view presents an empty background. You can place the various node elements (such as Class, Use Case, and so on) on the background and draw relationship links between them (Association, Communicates, and so on). What elements and relationships drawn on the diagram is up to you - whatever meets the requirements of your model.
