The Get License dialog enables you to obtain a license using email or a floating license server.
To open the dialog, from the main menu choose Help > Together License > Get License/Setup License Server. Alternatively, click Get License on the License Management Dialog. The Get License dialog opens:
The following table describes the options found on the Get License dialog:
NB: Options marked with an asterisk (*) require an entry.
| Option | Description |
|---|---|
| Get a node-locked license for this computer via Internet | Select this option if you have an Authorization Code for
a node-locked (single-user) license and want to obtain your license key
over the Internet. If you get an error, see Troubleshooting. NB: A node-locked license is locked to the Host ID (hostid) of the computer used to obtain the key. |
| Authorization code* | Code provided by TogetherSoft when you purchase your license.
The TogetherSoft license generation system uses the code to process and
deliver the license key required to run Together.
NB: If your machine has multiple network profiles such as a laptop with both modem and network card, see Troubleshooting. |
| Host ID | This field contains two values in the drop down list. Typically,
one of the numbers is a 12-digit figure that represents the Media Access
Control (MAC) address of your primary network card. The other number is
usually the disk serial number of your primary hard disk drive.
NB: If you will use a laptop or computer that is not connected to a network, or, have no network card, avoid using the MAC address. The following actions result in changing the 8-digit number and require that you contact TogetherSoft Technical Support:
|
| Your e-mail address* | Email address used to send a new license if your old license becomes invalid. Installing a new operating system, formatting the hard drive, or changing hardware requires a new license. |
| Your name* | Enter your name in this field. Email messages used to send you a new license will be addressed to this name. |
| Proxy host | If your network uses a proxy server for Internet access (check with your administrator if you are unsure), enter the proxy server's name or IP address here. |
| Proxy host Port | If you use the Proxy host field, enter the port number required to access this service. |
| Set up a floating license from your company's TOGETHER license server | Select this option if your organization already has a license server set up for Together users and you want to run your copy of Together using a floating license from the server. |
| User name | The user name is used for connecting to the license server. Enter your user name as provided by your floating license system administrator. By default, this field displays your computer login name. If the user name is incorrect, the default name guest is used. |
| Primary host* | Enter the name or the IP address of the server on your network that serves the floating Together licenses. Consult your network administrator if necessary. For example, if the computer named "rtoo" is running the license server software, enter rtoo in this field. |
| Primary host Port | Enter the port number for the primary host. |
| Backup host | Copy licenses on another server for back up when the primary server is down. Consult with your network administrator regarding the backup server. If you have a backup server, specify the server name or IP address in this field. |
| Backup host Port | Enter the port number for the backup host. |
| Use the Test Connection button to confirm that you can connect to the license server. If you receive an error message, see Troubleshooting. | |
| Resets the primary host and backup host ports to 38700. | |
| Enabled when the Get Node-locked license option
is selected. Together contacts the TogetherSoft license generation system and passes the information you enter in the Authorization Code field along with the selected Host ID of your computer. The system returns a license key which is written to a file in the Together/eclipse/features directory and then Together continues to start up. |
|
|
Enabled when the Get Floating license option
is selected.
Together modifies your license configuration file to support the license specified in License type, and the server host specified in Server name. After rebooting, Together contacts the server host specified in the Server Name field. The license server checks out a license if one is available, passes it to Together , and then Together continues to start up. |
