The JavaMail API provides an easy way to add electronic mail functionality to simple applications as well as supports functions to create sophisticated user interfaces. The API consists of classes that encapsulate the common mail functions and protocols and is compatible with the other Java platform packages in the other Java APIs.

Implementation of the JavaMail 1.2 API is provided by the SAP J2EE Engine Java Mail Service.
