Collaboration
Collaboration provides functions that allow users to work together in distributed teams using common
resources, content, and collaboration tools. The main functions provide:
- Rooms and Communities:
Members of teams can use collaboration rooms to work with project groups across time
zones, regardless of geographical location. Every member of a
collaboration room has access to common context-specific applications
and information.
Communities are special collaboration rooms that give users uncontrolled
access to virtual rooms for exchanging information.
All collaboration rooms are managed in a room directory.
- Asynchronous Collaboration:
Provides tools for asynchronous cooperation with other users by means of discussions,
tasks, and attachments for discussions or tasks.
- Synchronous Collaboration:
Synchronous collaboration allows the interactive online exchange of information
with other users, and real-time collaboration using instant messaging and application
sharing.
- Groupware Integration:
Third-party groupware products such as Microsoft Exchange or Lotus Domino can be
integrated for e-mails, scheduling, and availability checks.
