Component documentation Administration of Central Services

Purpose

This documentation describes the administration of central services. These services are the enqueue service and the message service, which form one instance in each J2EE cluster. They look after central tasks in the cluster, such as message and data exchange, cluster synchronization, and administration of logical locks.

Implementation Considerations

Central services can be addressed by every other element in the J2EE cluster (dispatcher or server process) using a manager and a superordinate service. This is explained in the following sections:

Structure linkArchitecture of the Locking Adapter Service

Structure linkArchitecture of the Message Info Service

Integration

The architecture of of central services and of SAP Web AS for Java are described in the Structure linkArchitecture Manual. The following sections are particularly relevant:

Structure linkJ2EE Instance

Structure linkCentral Services

Features

You can monitor and manage central services using the visual administrator. Here you can identify and solve and problems that may arise.

The following sections describe what you can do in the locking adapter service and in the message info service.

Structure linkApplication Locking Service

Structure linkMessage Info Service

Structure linkVisual Administrator contains general documentation about the visual administrator.
