Procedure documentation Adding Server Processes

Use

You can also scale a Java cluster by adding server processes to already existing Java instances. This enables optimal utilization of the available hardware resources and the capacity of the Java dispatcher to multiple server processes.

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

Scaling the cluster by adding a server process

Prerequisites

You must have installed the basic components of the cluster (Central Services, at least one Java instance, and database).

Procedure

When you run the Structure linkTemplate Configuration Tool on your Java instance, it automatically configures the number of server processes based on the hardware resources that are available.

Additionally, you can install server processes manually using the Config Tool provided by the J2EE Engine. For more information about the procedure, see Structure linkConfiguring Cluster Elements.

Recommendation

We recommend that you use the Template Configuration Tool for automatic Java instance setup.
