Clients for the DTR Server 

You can use different clients to execute the DTR functions:

·        Eclipse Client: Use the Eclipse client for all development activities. In addition, the most frequently used DTR functions are available in the context menus of all other perspectives in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio. And you can integrate the DTR views (for example, the Open Activities view) in other perspectives.

To execute administrator tasks, use these clients:

·        Command Line Client

·        DTR Administrator Client

Eclipse Client

The Eclipse-based client of the DTR is delivered as a plug-in for the Eclipse-based SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio. In this studio, you can execute most of the DTR operations. This client cannot be used for performing the following set of administrative operations (use the command line client instead):

·        Integrating activities across workspaces

·        User management

Starting the Eclipse Client

Start the Eclipse client as an Eclipse perspective in the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio.

Command Line Client

Besides using it for all the basic functionalities, you can use the command line client for the administrative tasks. For example:

·        Integrating activities across workspace boundaries

·        Creating Workspace Folders and Workspaces

 

Throughout this documentation, we refer to the Eclipse-based client whenever we mention the DTR client. Whenever we talk about the command line client, we will make that clear at the beginning of the respective section.

Starting the Command Line Client

       1.      Open the installation directory of the DTR.

       2.      To start the command line client, execute the dtrshell.bat file.

You can find help in the command line client by entering the command help. Enter help commands to display the available commands.
