Background documentation Working with Development Configurations Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

You import a development configuration to configure your development environment. As a developer, you cannot change a configuration. This implies that you cannot add or remove new software components, compartments, variants or relations between software components. However, you can create, change and delete any number of development components within the compartments of the configuration.

Defining and providing appropriate configurations is an administrative task, which is usually not your responsibility as a developer. Configurations can be distributed among the developers using a landscape directory. In small development landscapes, however, configurations may sufficiently be distributed by download from a Web server, for example. For this reason, the SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio is able to import configurations from the local file system.

For more information on working with development components, see Working with Components.

Note

The SAP NetWeaver Developer Studio can hold several imported development configurations at the same time. Your user/password combination must be valid for all services of the SAP NetWeaver Java Development Infrastructure, which you use in your development scenario and for the System Landscape Directory.
