Defining When Notification E-Mails Are
Sent
You can configure user management to send notification e-mails on the occurrence of specific events, for example, when the administrator locks a user account an e-mail is sent to the user.
...
1. In the portal, choose System Administration ® System Configuration ® UM Configuration.
2. Choose the Notification E-Mails tab.
3. In SMTP Server, enter the e-mail host. If you enter several e-mail hosts, separate them with a semicolon (‘;’).

Make sure that the SMTP server accepts e-mails from and sends e-mails to all domains that users may have in your environment. It is especially important that administrators have an e-mail address that the STMP server accepts.
4. Set the indicators as follows:
Indicator |
Description |

If e-mails are sent
asynchronously programs do not have to wait until the e-mail server responds.
Instead a separate process takes care of sending the e-mails. |

5. Save your entries.

After changing settings using the configuration tool, you must restart the Java application server for the changes to take effect.
In addition to the events that you defined above, notification e-mails are also sent to a user when the user registers in the portal. After self-registration the user gets a confirmation of registration to the e-mail address that he or she entered during registration.
