Security of Logical Systems
A number of measures were taken to ensure security when using logical systems in a Web Dynpro application. Since several back-end systems are used with one URL parameter, it is important that the following guidelines are observed when mapping logical systems.
The following is a list of all important recommendations and restrictions for Web Dynpro application developers:
· The logical system name for the binding of application data must point to the same system as the logical system name that represents the metadata.
· The mapping settings cannot be changed while the Web Dynpro application is running, since there can be no multiple access to different back-end systems within one application instance.
· Naming conventions exist for new logical system names; detailed information is available under Mapping Logical Systems.
· With regard to the security of metadata binding, it is recommended that you define a default connection whose name is at least 4 characters longer than that of the application connection. This is possible if both names have the same prefix.
If you want to increase security in this way, it is possible that you will have to configure a larger number of logical system names in the Web Dynpro Content Administrator, since you will no longer be able to have shared names between default system names.
SAP has introduced these measures to ensure that there can be no unauthorized access to your logical systems by setting URL parameters.
