Function documentation Navigation iViews Locate the document in its SAP Library structure

Navigation iViews are implemented as Portal iViews. Depending on the presentation logic navigation iViews links are put together in groups. A navigation iView can be a content independent iView (always visible, for example, TLN) or it can be displayed depending on the content that is presented (for example, SeeAlso – related links). A SeeAlso iView is only visible on the navigation panel (see diagram below) when related links are defined as navigation targets.

The Portal supplies several out-of-the-box navigation iViews. Customizes navigation iViews can be implemented, either replacing the existing navigation iViews or used in addition for certain scenarios.

Out-of-the-Box Navigation iViews

The Enterprise Portal 6.0 contains different navigation iViews. This section briefly describes each of them to give a general idea of their responsibility.

Note

We refer to the configuration of the Portal. For more information about configuring the Portal, refer to the Portal Administration Guide.

Default Portal Navigation Layout

This graphic is explained in the accompanying text

·        Header

Displays the personalized welcome message and three links that belong to the Portal - Help, Personalize and Log-Off.

·        Tools Area

Contains a search input field for Knowledge Management (KM) components. Except for KM enabled installations, this iView is invisible on the Portal framework page. In order to see this iView, the administrator can edit the Portal framework page and set this iView to be visible.

·        Top Level Navigation (TLN)

Displays the two root levels of the user specific navigation structure, starting from the initial nodes. The TLN iView has properties that can be adjusted:

¡        Hovering

The TLN can work in hovering mode, which implies that the second navigation level is replaced by hovering over the first level.

¡        Number Of Display Levels

By default, the TLN presents the two root levels of the navigation tree. If this attribute is set to 0, the TLN will not be shown, and the hierarchy will be displayed in the DTN. If this attribute to 1, then the TLN will contain only one level and the rest of the navigation tree will be displayed in the DTN iView.

¡        Personalize Portal Page

The PCD location of the personalization Portal page. By default, the Portal personalization dialog page is used.

·        Detailed Navigation (DTN)

Displays the Portal navigation tree starting from the third level of the user specific navigation structure. The DTN iView should maintain the continuity of the navigation tree, according to the TLN configuration. If the TLN was configured to display only 1 level of hierarchy, the DTN should start its tree from the second level of the navigation tree. The Start At Level attribute contains the information of the starting level and is unique to the DTN iView.

·        Drag&Relate Targets

This navigation iView contains a target list of Drag&RelateTarget iViews. A Drag&RelateTarget iView should enable the dragging of links from the context to the target list. The target list is relevant to the content displayed in the content area. Therefore, the configuration of the target list is done on the content element to which the list is related. The target list can be configured with the Target Editor at Application Designer ® iView ® Page Editor.

·        SeeAlso - Related Links

This navigation iView contains a list of iViews that are related to the content element displayed in the work area. This list is a collection of relevant links that may help the user while working on the main content. The configuration of this list is done on the target iView to which the list is related, usually by the content developer through the Related Links Editor at Application Designer ® iView ® Page Editor.

·        Content Area

Displays the content of the navigation target node.
