Configuration of User Management in the
Enterprise Portal
SAP User Management Engine (UME) retrieves its user management data from one or more data sources. These can be a combination of SAP Web Application ABAP user management, LDAP directories, or a database. You define the data sources that UME uses during installation. You only need to make subsequent changes to the user management configuration if you wish to use an LDAP directory server or a custom configuration of data sources for your user management data.
For an overview of the configuration options of UME, see UME Data Sources.
For information on setting up UME to use an LDAP directory, see Configuring UME to Use an LDAP Server as Data Source.

SAP Enterprise Portal 6.0 customers are are entitled to a 250,000-user version of Novell eDirectory free of charge. For more information, see www.novell.com/products/edirectory/sap/.

1. Log on to the portal with a super administrator user. The user ID an password of the super administrator user depends on how you configured user management during installation. For more information, see Standard Users and Groups.

For example, if you configured UME to use a database as a data source, you log on with the user Administrator and the password that you defined during installation.
2. If you want to change the configuration so that UME uses an LDAP directory, then follow the procedure outlined in Configuring UME to Use an LDAP Server as Data Source.

In the portal, you can use the user management configuration tool for some of the configuration steps.
3. Make sure that a role is assigned to the default group Everyone. If this group does not have a role assigned to it, we recommend that you assign the role with the following ID: pcd:portal_content/every_user/general/eu_role.

If this group does not have a role assigned to it, some users may not have a role assigned to them and, as a result, see a blank page when they log on to the portal.
