Use

Here, you see functions the DC releases for use by other components. For more information, see Structure linkPublic Parts.

Whereas the meta data described so far is all stored in the .dcdef file, every public part has its own meta data file. They are located in the def subfolder of the component and have the file extension pp.

You use this procedure in all scenarios that use the component model:

·        Scenario 2: Development with Components

·        Scenario 2+: Development with a Track

·        Scenario 3: Layered Development

Creating Public Parts

       1.      To create a public part, in the context menu of the node DC MetaData à Public Parts, choose New Public Part.

                            a.      Enter the name of the public part.

                            b.      Specify the Structure linkpurpose of the public part.

                            c.      Enter a description of the public part.

The better you describe the public part, the easier it will be later to identify and use this interface.

                            d.      To create the public part, choose Finish. You are now prompted to add the newly created file to an activity.

For the visibility of the new public part the same rules apply as for editing the DC source data.

Editing Public Parts

       1.      Expand the node of the desired public part. You can maintain the following categories:

¡        Access control list

¡        Entities

¡        Entity References

       2.      If you make changes to one of the categories, you are prompted to add it to an activity.

Deleting Public Parts

...

       1.      To delete a public part, in the context menu of the public part, choose Delete.

Note that other components might need this public part and cannot be built without it.
