Change Management Service: Transport View 

Purpose

The Change Management Service (CMS) manages the transport of software changes within an SAP Java development landscape. In SAP NetWeaver Studio, the CMS can be seen in the Transport View of the development configuration perspective.

Developers use the Transport View to release their software changes so that they can be transported through the development and consolidation landscape. This guarantees that new software developments run through a clearly defined production process, resulting in a high-quality shipped product.

Integration

The Transport View continues the release process that developers start when they check their software changes into the Design Time Repository (DTR) and activate them in the Component Build Service (CBS). When the software changes are released for transport, they are placed in the import queue of the CMS consolidation system. Here, the CMS administrator can check the quality of the software and approve it for transport into other systems.

When developers release their software for transport, they forward it to the transport service. This ends the development activities for this state of the software.
