Prior to versions 0.29.0.gfm.3 and 0.28.3.gfm.21, an integer overflow in cmark-gfm's table row parsing `table.c:row_from_string` may lead to heap memory corruption when parsing tables who's marker rows contain more than UINT16_MAX columns. The impact of this heap corruption ranges from Information Leak to Arbitrary Code Execution depending on how and where `cmark-gfm` is used. If `cmark-gfm` is used for rendering remote user controlled markdown, this vulnerability may lead to Remote Code Execution (RCE) in applications employing affected versions of the `cmark-gfm` library. This vulnerability has been patched in the following cmark-gfm versions 0.29.0.gfm.3 and 0.28.3.gfm.21. A workaround is available. The vulnerability exists in the table markdown extensions of cmark-gfm. Disabling the table extension will prevent this vulnerability from being triggered.","title":"Description of the CVE"},{"category":"legal_disclaimer","text":"CSAF 2.0 data is provided by SUSE under the Creative Commons License 4.0 with Attribution (CC-BY-4.0).","title":"Terms of use"}],"publisher":{"category":"vendor","contact_details":"https://www.suse.com/support/security/contact/","name":"SUSE Product Security Team","namespace":"https://www.suse.com/"},"references":[{"category":"external","summary":"CVE-2022-24724","url":"https://www.suse.com/security/cve/CVE-2022-24724"},{"category":"external","summary":"SUSE Security Ratings","url":"https://www.suse.com/support/security/rating/"},{"category":"external","summary":"SUSE Bug 1196742 for CVE-2022-24724","url":"https://bugzilla.suse.com/1196742"}],"title":"SUSE CVE CVE-2022-24724","tracking":{"current_release_date":"2025-04-25T03:44:57Z","generator":{"date":"2023-02-15T03:27:42Z","engine":{"name":"cve-database.git:bin/generate-csaf-vex.pl","version":"1"}},"id":"CVE-2022-24724","initial_release_date":"2023-02-15T03:27:42Z","revision_history":[{"date":"2023-02-15T03:27:42Z","number":"2","summary":"Current version"},{"date":"2023-10-31T02:22:28Z","number":"3","summary":"Current version"},{"date":"2025-01-01T03:11:33Z","number":"4","summary":"Current version"},{"date":"2025-02-14T07:54:51Z","number":"5","summary":"Current version"},{"date":"2025-02-16T07:36:31Z","number":"6","summary":"Current version"},{"date":"2025-03-15T07:41:24Z","number":"7","summary":"Current version"},{"date":"2025-04-25T03:44:57Z","number":"8","summary":"Current version"}],"status":"interim","version":"8"}},"product_tree":{"branches":[{"branches":[{"branches":[{"category":"product_name","name":"SUSE Liberty Linux 8","product":{"name":"SUSE Liberty Linux 8","product_id":"SUSE Liberty Linux 8","product_identification_helper":{"cpe":"cpe:/o:suse:sll:8"}}},{"category":"product_version","name":"pandoc-2.0.6-6.el8_6","product":{"name":"pandoc-2.0.6-6.el8_6","product_id":"pandoc-2.0.6-6.el8_6","product_identification_helper":{"cpe":"cpe:2.3:a:pandoc:pandoc:2.0.6:*:*:*:*:*:*:*","purl":"pkg:rpm/suse/pandoc@2.0.6-6.el8_6?upstream=pandoc-2.0.6-6.el8_6.src.rpm"}}},{"category":"product_version","name":"pandoc-common-2.0.6-6.el8_6","product":{"name":"pandoc-common-2.0.6-6.el8_6","product_id":"pandoc-common-2.0.6-6.el8_6","product_identification_helper":{"purl":"pkg:rpm/suse/pandoc-common@2.0.6-6.el8_6"}}}],"category":"product_family","name":"SUSE Linux Enterprise"}],"category":"vendor","name":"SUSE"}],"relationships":[{"category":"default_component_of","full_product_name":{"name":"pandoc-2.0.6-6.el8_6 as component of SUSE Liberty Linux 8","product_id":"SUSE Liberty Linux 8:pandoc-2.0.6-6.el8_6"},"product_reference":"pandoc-2.0.6-6.el8_6","relates_to_product_reference":"SUSE Liberty Linux 8"},{"category":"default_component_of","full_product_name":{"name":"pandoc-common-2.0.6-6.el8_6 as component of SUSE Liberty Linux 8","product_id":"SUSE Liberty Linux 8:pandoc-common-2.0.6-6.el8_6"},"product_reference":"pandoc-common-2.0.6-6.el8_6","relates_to_product_reference":"SUSE Liberty Linux 8"}]},"vulnerabilities":[{"cve":"CVE-2022-24724","ids":[{"system_name":"SUSE CVE Page","text":"https://www.suse.com/security/cve/CVE-2022-24724"}],"notes":[{"category":"general","text":"cmark-gfm is GitHub's extended version of the C reference implementation of CommonMark.
