The directories in /pub/suse/i386/update/7.3/kernel/ contain kernel rpm packages. The name of the respective directory designates the purpose: certified_by_suse: These kernels are used for hardware certification tests. For detailed information, see http://www.suse.de/, adjust your language and click on hardware certification in the left frame. The kernels from directories named like /pub/suse/i386/update/7.3/kernel/2.4.18-20020801/ or similar are designed to work on SuSE Linux 7.3. All other directories may contain kernels that can break your installation. In particular, if there is no README.txt file in the respective directory, then an installation of such a kernel _might_ work, but there is no guarantee. Do not install kernel RPM packages that you do not know what you need them for. SuSE ftpadmin, ftpadmin@suse.de.
