"Unix Cockpit" (UC) is a new Unix file manager. UC integrates file browsers, a directory tree, and your standard shell into a useful, mouse driven tool.
Using a source and target browser, file operations like copy, move, delete, or edit can be executed. Additional operations (compress, gzip, find, etc.) can be chosen via a menu which can also hold user defined commands. In a separated shell even more commands can be entered. The current directory tree can be displayed in an additional window, providing the possibilities to navigate through the file system, select the working directory, and move directories. Using a small control window, all used windows can be pushed down, popped up, or be hidden. UC also provides an online help system.
Summarizing, UC is a good X11 shell.
