German, English: see below. ------------------------------------------------------------------------- English: The unmodified mirror tree of S.u.S.E. Linux can be used as NFS installation source only for machines with at least 16 MB of RAM. To be able to use your mirrored S.u.S.E. Linux as a nfs installation source for machines with less RAM, there are two steps that need to be done. 1. Change the file permissions for the files in suse/setup/tools to make these files executable (usually ftp leaves the files 644). 2. Unpack the installation system contained in the file suse/inst-sys.tar.gz since the files within cant be transferred via ftp (devices etc). We provided a script that can do the work for you. It sets up a complete copy of the tree using hard links, where it unpacks the installation system to keep mirror from removing the files within the inst-sys. After that the file permissions in suse/setup/tools are corrected. Start the script using: prepare_ftp source destination where SOURCE is the mirrored S.u.S.E. Linux root directory and DESTINATION is the directory used for client nfs installation.
