Managing Configured Arrays

The Existing Logical Drives window contains three sub-windows: Logical Drives, Front View, and Functions.

Related configuration options are: LD Assignment, LD Name, Write Policy, Expansion by Adding Drive(s), and Array Partitioning. LD is a short for Logical Drive.

To Select a Configured Array:

1. To access a configured array, single click a listed array. A selected array will be displayed in a reversed color (white print on a blue background).

2. When a configured array is selected, the Front View window automatically reflects the selection by displaying its member drives. Drives belonging to the logical drive are highlighted by bright blue lines. Members of an array may reside in different enclosures. Click the tabbed panel on top of the enclosure graphic to check their locations in different enclosures.

To Change Array-Related Configurations:

LD Assignment: You may reassign an array to another RAID controller. Note that doing so requires mapping the array to the host channel ID/LUNs associated with that controller.

Name: Naming the logical drive can help identifying a configured capacity in a complex storage network.

Write Policy: Write policy is configurable on a per array basis.

Apply: After changing the above settings, click this button for the configuration to take effect.

Right-Click Command Menu:

To bring up a right-click command menu:
Step 1: Select a logical drive by single mouse click.
Step 2: Right-click on the adjacent area of the selected array.

Right-Click Commands:
These commands allow you to create a partition (see the link below), Delete a logical drive, or shutdown a logical drive.

NOTE:
1. Deleting a logical drive destroys all data that has been distributed to it.
2. The shutdown command allows you to temporarily stop I/O access to the logical drive. To bring the LD back online, you must reset the controller/subsystem.
