I can't understand how "mount -t smbfs ......" would mount a
filesystem over a network. I think it will mount a partition which is
formatted with a smb-filesystem.
You need to resolve the name of the host.
"smbmount //server/service IP-number ......" is IMHO a whole other
matter.
